Know the Glow works globally to eliminate preventable childhood blindness through early detection and treatment of glow related conditions.

Do You Know The Glow?

Spring Into Awareness:
Early Detection Can Save Sight

Spring is here, and it’s the perfect time to come together to protect children’s sight. At KnowTheGlow, we are dedicated to raising awareness about The Glow, a warning sign that can signal serious eye conditions in young children. Early detection makes all the difference, and with your support, we can reach more families, share life-saving information, and ensure that every child has the chance to see clearly. This Spring, join us in spreading the message because together, timely action can truly save sight.

With heartfelt thanks,

KnowTheGlow Team

KnowTheGlow Attends the ISOO Rio 2026

Ocular Oncology Conference

KnowTheGlow had the exciting opportunity to attend and present on the importance and impact of Partnering for Early Detection in Limited Resource Settings at the 2026 ISOO Conference in Rio de Janeiro in March.  Co‑Founder Megan Webber and KTG’s Partnership Liaison Caitlin Villante were delighted to meet so many global leaders in ocular oncology in person, many of whom KTG had previously only connected with virtually. These in-person conversations allowed us to strengthen relationships in person, like with Dr. Kahaki Kimani, Dr. Vera Essuman, and Dr. Dupe Popoola, exchange ideas, and explore future collaborations to continue promoting awareness of childhood eye conditions around the world. Attending events like ISOO helps us stay at the forefront of early detection and connect with global partners who share our mission to save sight.

Ruth’s Africa Updates

The first months of 2026 have focused on strengthening partnerships and building on ongoing collaborations with doctors, NGOs, and institutions across Africa, alongside the launch of our South Africa campaign running from March 15th to May 15th. These efforts are supporting the growth of student chapters, expanding volunteer networks, and advancing discussions around long-term partnerships.
Recently, KnowTheGlow was invited by the Ministry of Health in Kenya to attend the WHO SPECS initiative launch, contributing to discussions on improving access to eye care. We will also be attending IAPB Insight Live 2026 in June. Early childhood eye health, particularly for children aged 0 to 5, continues to require greater attention. Increasing awareness of visible signs such as the glow remains key to early detection of several serious eye conditions.

From One Glow to a GLOWbal Movement

KnowTheGlow was proud to be featured by We Are ND, highlighting the story that sparked a global movement, one family’s experience with a “golden glow” that led to early detection and a life-changing diagnosis.

Co-founder Megan Webber’s personal journey is at the heart of KnowTheGlow, helping turn one moment into a worldwide effort to ensure no child’s vision is lost because a warning sign went unseen. Today, that mission continues to connect families, doctors, and communities across the globe in the fight for earlier detection and action and the partnership with the faculty and students at the University of Notre Dame continues to grow.
